Divorce Boudoir | Indianapolis Boudoir
I’ve photographed several sessions for women, after a divorce, and it’s always just as much fun, as doing bridal boudoir, or boudoir for any other reason. Boudoir should be liberating! And though it may be sad to say, there’s no other feeling as liberating as losing a whole person of dead weight, years of emotional stress, and the worries that have kept you down for months, or years. Here’s miss F’s session in her own words:
I am a 34 year old professional from Indiana. I knew boudoir shoots were a growing trend for couples/gifts, and then someone I went to school with posted about doing one for herself and how awesome it was. Ever since then I had the idea in the back of my head that I would like to do one someday. When I recently got divorced I said to myself you know what? I’m going to do this for me! To reclaim my sexuality, confidence, and body! I started searching and the stunning photos I saw on Nine 23’s website made me investigate further. Once I read up on Ashley and her mission/philosophy I knew it was the right choice for me. The philosophy/mission of acceptance no matter the shape, size, color, or orientation spoke to me right away. I got the sense that Ashley and Heather were my people! I also loved the idea of getting my hair and makeup done if I’m telling the absolute truth! Also, I liked that Ashley has her own studio. The hotel thing creeps me out a bit…not to mention it is awesome to be able to support a kick ass female owned business! Nine 23 seemed professional and high quality while also being relaxed and welcoming. After experiencing it first hand I would say this is absolutely true. Truly amazing. Ashley and Heather are artists. They put so much work and care into every detail of what they are doing and it shows. They take the time to get to know you and genuinely care about your experience. By the time you are finished you feel like you have two more friends! There is something really freeing about putting your complete trust into someone and being totally vulnerable with something so personal. I wanted to trust their ideas and skill sets even though sometimes it meant I was out of my comfort zone or unsure of how the finished product would look. I am so glad that I did. It makes it that much better. It has definitely been a major boost to my confidence and has helped me own my body and sexuality as an independent and strong woman. It was an empowering experience. Every woman should treat themselves! This is the ultimate treat! While I wasn’t afraid about doing the shoot, I was definitely nervous about what the photos would look like. Would my flaws show? Would I be able to pull it off? Would my hair do stupid things like usual? Would it end up being super awkward? Did it come true? Absolutely not! I’ve told all of my friends to go for it, since doing my shoot! I think a shoot means different things to different people and Ashley does a great job figuring that out and making it, what you want it to be. She is relaxed and reassuring. There was zero awkwardness… only fun and girl power! You will not be disappointed.. only super proud of yourself and how beautiful you are, inside and out!!
